Happy Birthday to me

Today is my birthday, so I have taken the day off work. It's a day for me, so I may spend some time stitching. As you can see from the cards, I am now 50! Yikes. How did I get to be that age. Actually age is only a number, in my head I'm 26, and today is just another birthday, except people keep reminding me it's a 'special' day. Now come on, what is so 'special' about 50? Does it not just say you're getting old? Who wants to be reminded of that?

I think a bit of online shopping might be called for, a few stitchy treats for me, what do you think? I need to do a 'stock take' of my threads, I am starting to run out of some, so I shall find time for that, and get my order of DMC in. If you're in the UK, where do you buy yours? I don't think there is anywhere cheaper in the UK than where I get my DMC from, but I'd love to know where you shop for yours, and how much you pay.

Have a nice day everyone, I wish you could all come and share my cake.

Happy Birthday!

Age is definitely a state of mind - I still think of myself as being somewhere in my mid-twenties, despite the approach of my 41st birthday next month!

As for DMC - if I need a wodge for a project (unlikely, as I have a full set plus a box of spares) I buy them from SewandSo as they are 59p each. Of course, when it happens that I run out of the odd one, it's never one I have in my stash, so I pop to my local quilt shop (the craft shop having closed) and get one for 75p :o(

Happy Birthday to you. I hope you get some 'me time'. Retail therapy at Sew and So is always good for me. I get my DMC threads from westbbc on ebay. I think she is called The Thread Shop, I would have to check at home, and you can order direct. Including postage it was £10 for 30 regular DMC colours, which is about 33p each. I think the minimum order is 5 through ebay. If you get them cheaper please let me know.

Happy Birthday Chris!! I'm 52 but really only feel about 19 LOL!! I don't often think about my age until I see it printed on my prescription, then I think I can't possibly be that old! Anyway I hope you enjoy your day off especially the stash shopping. I buy my threads from a small craft shop in Stafford. DMC threads there cost 49p. It's about the only shop in Stafford for that sort of thing although we are getting a Hobbycraft in February. I won't be buying them there thoiugh as they charge full wack for DMC - 75p! I will sometimes get thread from Sew and So if I'm putiing in an order for other things.

Happy Birthday , hope you have a great day.
Definitely some stitchy treats in order.
Cheap DMC threads , not sure if these are still current , but . www.crossstitchworkshop.co.uk , were 33p skein.
www.across-town-stitching.talktalk.net , were 30p per skein , but as I say , not sure if this is a current price as had the info for a while. Also , not sure of P&P rates either , but might be worth checking them out.
Take care , and have fun .

Happy 50 to you. I just had mine earlier this month. I agree, in my mind I'm not old, and my children say I'm not old, but there's that number. Sigh. I've decided to wear it with pride. Enjoy your stitchy day!

Very happy birthday to you! Hope you manage to find some nice goodies to treat yourself to. I get my DMC on ebay and pay .32p per skein, which I thought was very reasonable. It will be interesting to see where others get theirs.

Well, Happy Birthday girl!!!!
50 - I loved turning 50. Hated 40 but loved 50. I was finally at the age I could be and do for myself. My children were grown and on their own, my husband and I were retired, and we decided to have a winter home in Arizona. I was happy to leave my job and not have to deal with the public, in general, any more. I felt comfortable in my skin and was ready to explore.
Now, I'm sneaking up on 60 - almost 58 - and I'm still enjoying these years.
Enjoy hon - the alternative is not fun!!!

Happy Birthday Chris. I agree with you, when I had my 50th birthday last year people kept wanting to make a big deal of it but I thought it was just another birthday really!

Happy Birthday! And enjoy your gifts. And yes, a bit of shopping would be appropriate, I think, lol.
I loved to see your new starts in one of the previous posts.

Happy Belated Birthday!

I usually wait until I have an order from Sewandso, but reading the replies you have I may be trying ebay!

Having rounded that 50 corner, I can appreciate that it seems like you're 26! I just can't understand how my kids got to be so grown up when I barely am. :D

Happy birthday (belated) wishes for a fabulous year!!
