A disappointing new start

Well, this was my new start this week, but now it's gone away to be a UFO! Already!

It was a kit I bought earlier this year, (I purchased a few Lorri Birmingham's altogether). Now, as it's a kit, I expect it to have everything needed to complete the design, but maybe I'm wrong there. There was 5 lengths of Creme Silk floss by Needle Necessities (no idea where to buy more), 5 lengths of Hand Painted Silk, and 12 lenghts of pink DMC (plus beads, crystals and kreinik). Now the pink DMC is to make tassels only. I have used 2 lengths of the silk, and need to start a 3rd just for a few stitches in this part of the design. I can see already that there is no way there is enough to finish this as it is supposed to be, so now it's a UFO.

Now my thoughts are - I have no idea what I'd do with it if I finished it, so shall I not bother? Shall I just do one side, and make it into a small band sampler? All ideas greatly appreciated.

I would try to contact Lori Birmingham and request additional fiber. There should have been plenty of fiber in the kit. I have taken a class from her. My class kit along with one of my friend's kit was even missing some of the required fiber. They were supposed to send it to us. Never did. I really never even started the piece. Not sure where it is today. However, since you have a good start, I would try to contact her either through the internet ore by regular mail. Good Luck in getting the fiber.

What a shame. It's so pretty too. I would try contacting the company for more thread but reading what Kathy has said, it doesn't seem like you'll get very far.

I remember at one time someone complaining about her always shorting threads and embellishments in her kits. Unless something has changed in the way she does business, she's not great for responding. It's worth at try though, particularly since you finished so much of it!

I would contact her and ask for more floss, at the moment you may think it isnt worth finishing but later you may look at it and think I wish I had the bits to finish it

Well as everyone else says Chris I would certainly try contacting her for the outstanding thread.
Having said that and as pretty as this is - like you I do not have a clue what I would do with something like that if I completed it. Apart from a pretty sash for a little girls dress I cannot think of anything else. The design is so pretty though I think I would just do half as a band sampler which would really be lovely.

Good luck and look forward to hearing what you decide Chris.

That is so pretty! What a shame that there isn't enough fibers to finish it. Good luck with getting it straightened out.

If there is any way you can find the floss etc to finish it I really would as it looks a gorgeous design so far.

It's a lovely piece. I like the idea of doing half of it as a bell pull if you can't get more thread (or even if you can).

Ditto everyone else about contacting Lori Birmingham.
Would it be long enough to make into a chatelaine?
